American Idiot - National Tour

The smash hit musical based on Green Day's award-winning album.

Lights, Glitter and Drums Make American Idiot’s Daniel C. Jackson Feel Like a Rock God

When American Idiot lands at the Keller Auditorium on November 12, Daniel C. Jackson will tear around the stage as the charismatic villain St. Jimmy. For the actor, singing the Green Day score makes him feel like a member of the band.

“As St. Jimmy, it's truly impossible not to feel like a rock star,” Jackson says. “The lights, camera, glitter and punk-rock drums make me seem like a legit rock god.”

In the musical, St. Jimmy leads the protagonist Johnny (played by Jared Nepute) in a downward spiral of drugs when he tries to make it in the big city. “It's always fun to play the bad boy, but especially when it's a bad boy whom a lot of audiences can relate to,” Jackson says. “I have known people like St. Jimmy and that made the impact of the character that much more intense for me. I think a lot of audience members will feel the same.”

Based on Green Day's Grammy Award-winning album, American Idiot tells the story of three lifelong friends forced to choose between their dreams and the safety of suburbia. Jackson is joined on stage by Napute as Johnny, Dan Tracy as Tunny, Casey O’Farrell as Will, Olivia Puckett as Whatsername and Taylor Jones as Extraordinary Girl.

“Seeing Johnny's story reminds me every day of where I could've ended up had it not been time to wake up,” Jackson says of American Idiot, which will play Portland through November 17. “The show reminds me every day that I have the power to make my destiny.”
