Broadway Vet Joey Sorge Boards the National Tour of Anything Goes

Joey Sorge will assume the role of haughty aristocrat Lord Evelyn Oakleigh in the national tour of Anything Goes. Sorge will begin performances on October 4 during the show’s engagement at Portland’s Keller Auditorium.

Sorge was last seen on Broadway in Nice Work If You Can Get It. His other credits on the Great White Way include How to Succeed In Business Without Really Trying, The Drowsy Chaperone, Thoroughly Modern Millie and the 2001 revival of Follies. Sorge has appeared on the big screen in New Year’s Eve, Valentine’s Day and on TV in Numb3rs and Commander in Chief.

Sorge joins a cast that includes Rachel York as Reno Sweeney, Josh Franklin as Billy Crocker, Fred Applegate as Moonface Martin, Alex Finke as Hope Harcourt, Sandra Shipley as Evangeline Harcourt, Joyce Chittick as Erma and Dennis Kelly as Elisha Whitney.

The 1934 musical comedy, which features the music of Cole Porter, tells the story of the passengers aboard the S.S. American, a luxury cruise ship. On the voyage, etiquette and convention head out the portholes as two unlikely pairs set off on the course to true love—proving that sometimes destiny needs a little help from a crew of singing sailors, an exotic disguise and some good old-fashioned blackmail.

This Tony-winning production for Best Musical Revival (with direction and choreography by Kathleen Marshall) features the famed songs “I Get A Kick Out of You,” “You’re The Top,” “Friendship,” and “De-Lovely.”
