Iron Man Director Jon Favreau in Talks to Helm Jersey Boys Film

Jon Favreau, director of the Iron Man films, is the frontrunner to direct GK Films’ big screen adaptation of the Tony-winning musical Jersey Boys, according to Variety. As previously announced, the film will be penned by Tony winner and Oscar nominee John Logan. The movie musical will be distributed by Sony Pictures and executive produced by Frankie Valli and Bob Gaudio.

Jersey Boys tells the story of how Valli, Gaudio, Tommy DeVito and Nick Massi became one of the top-singing groups of the '60s before they even turned 30. Like the show, the film will incorporate hits such as “Sherry,” “Oh What a Night,” Big Girls Don’t Cry” and “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You.”

In addition to the Iron Man films, Favreau has directed Cowboys & Aliens, Zathura, Elf and Made. As an actor he has appeared in films such as Swingers, I Love You Man, Four Christmases, The Break-Up and Deep Impact

Jersey Boys currently plays at Broadway's August Wilson Theatre and stars Andy Karl, Quinn VanAntwerp, Matt Bogart and Jarrod Spector as Frankie Valli. The musical opened on November 6, 2005. Des McAnuff's production won four 2006 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, and London’s 2009 Olivier Award for Best Musical.
